The story I am quoting is the contradiction between being absorbed in detailed fascination or seeing the bigger picture in the world.

From personal experience, e.g. in the business world, it is often about the misunderstanding between specialists and the more holistic-thinking higher management.

In this series, each work at first appears to be an abstract color composition. In close-up, there are even color details around each box, as if this is what matters. But if you take enough distance from something, a greater whole can become visible.

With this as a starting point, a figurative image is hidden in the composition, which is only visible from afar (or by means of a smartphone camera).

As in real life, once the bigger picture has been discovered, the viewer can suddenly switch easily between both visions and thus appreciations.

This concept has been elaborated as a digital version of pointillism. The small color areas give a digital pixelization effect, the human eye makes a mixing color from a distance and thus sees the figure.

With the shiny plexi, the colored drop shadow in each box and the virtual white frame, the work gets its special “hi-tech art feel”.
